Welcome to Year 6
We hope you had a lovely Easter break and you are all looking forward to the Summer Term and, hopefully, a little more sunshine. As always we have much to enjoy this term.
First of all, we will be marking the Coronation of King Charles III with a special day of learning, as well as inviting children to dress up as their favourite ruler from around the world, past or present. We can’t wait to see which regal figure you come in as and for everyone in our school community to learn from each other about the king, queen, emperor, empress, pharaoh, sultan, tsar or khan you are. Our home-learning projects this term will all be about finding out about royal figures - more on this in the project section below.
Later this half term we will embark on ‘It’s Good To Be Me Week’ which will be an opportunity to return to the work around identities from the start of the year and celebrate our uniqueness, as well as learn about ways to stay mentally and physically healthy. Our annual Sports Day will be part of this week.
Our other big focus this term is developing our courageous advocacy further. All our art outcomes will be based around an environmental theme so that children learn more about protecting the planet for the future. This is also part of our work to ensure we teach our children to be 'Stewards of God's Great Creation'. The outcomes of art this term will be ready to be danced with and celebrated at the summer carnival and international fayre.
